An angry passenger had to be forcibly removed from a domestic US flight after going on rant when he spotted President-elect Donald Trump’s daughter on the same plane.
The passenger named Matt Lasner was ejected from the JetBlue plane before the flight from New York to Florida took off, after he berated Ivanka Trump.
He told her, “Your father is ruining the country.”
Other passengers have said that he then shouted out, “Why is she on our flight? She should be flying private.”
Another eyewitness on the flight said that a shocked Matt Lasner "did a double take” when he saw Donald Trump’s daughter on the flight and said, “Oh my God. This is a nightmare!”
Sean Spicer, a spokesperson for Trump, has told Fox News: "To do that to a woman who was on there with her children, I don't care what your political background is or what your thoughts are, that's not the way we as Americans need to act.”
The JetBlue airlines refused to comment specifically about the story but they did release a statement to confirm that there was an incident on the flight, saying: “The decision to remove a customer from a flight is not taken lightly.
"If the crew determines that a customer is causing conflict on the aircraft, the customer will be asked to deplane, especially if the crew feels the situation runs the risk of escalation during flight.
"In this instance, our team worked to re-accommodate the party on the next available flight."
In several tweets last night, Matt Lasner apologized for his actions. “I would like to publicly apologize to @IvankaTrump & everyone on flight 320 for what occurred earlier today, nothing is personal. I'm sorry.”
He then added in a second tweet, “I sincerely regret my actions earlier today and upon further reflection am ashamed to have verbally attacked Ms. Ivanka Trump.”
But the apology may have come too late – with pro-Trump supporters retaliating by posting his work and home contact details online.
