Track of the Day: Surika 'Tea and Cake - Track No. 4'
Surika is a singer-songwriter from the enchanted town of Dingle, Co. Kerry.
In August 2015 she released her debut Ep 'The Sound of Rain' as 'Sorcha NB', consisting of six original tracks.
Since her debut Surika has opened for the likes of Ham SandwicH, Sample Answer, Liam Frost and has played festivals such as Other Voices and Féile na Bealtaine. Her most recent formal release, 'Track no.4' in August 2018, explores the complexities of observing and accepting "unjust" loss.
Although Surika's sound has continued to develop, her underlying style continues. Her songs sound effortless, yet heartfelt, with a strong poetic edge. Each one accompanied by a varying arrangement and array of instruments.
Surika continues to work on new music and her live performances, through regular gigs and songwriting or in her own words she’s "playing music and drinking tea".
