Former President Barack Obama to speak at Dublin event later this year
The evening is described as “an inspiring, once-in-a-lifetime event” by organisers
Former U.S. President Barack Obama is set to speak at an event in the 3Arena later this year.
An Evening with President Barack Obama in Conversation with Fintan O’Toole will be held in the 3Arena on September 26.
Obama, who was the 44th President of the United States from 2009 to 2017, is set to speak about his pathway to the White House as the first African American president.
Host Fintan O’Toole is one of Ireland's leading journalists, known for his column in The Irish Times.
“True democracy is a project that’s much bigger than any one of us. It’s bigger than any one person, any one president, and any one government. It’s a job for all of us,” said Obama.
This will be Obama's first visit to Ireland since 2011, when he visited Dublin and Moneygall in Offaly, where he has ancestral connections.
The 63-year-old continues to reside in Washington, D.C. and remains politically active, campaigning in President Biden’s presidential run in the 2020 election.
Elsewhere, Obama and his wife Michelle recently made a deal with Netflix to produce several documentaries and TV series about their lives and American politics.
For those interested, tickets go on sale Thursday, July 10 at 10 am, available on Singularartists.ie and Ticketmaster.
