The discovery was made on a new episode of genealogy series, 'Finding Your Roots'. Funnily enough, the comedian had once impersonated Bernie Sanders on 'Saturday Night Live'.
The 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' star exclaimed: ""What the hell?!" when the news was broken to him.
On the show, its host Henry Louis Gates, Jr told a shocked Larry David: "We match your DNA against anybody that's been in my series. If you have long identical stretches, that means you're cousins."
David then asks: "Oh, I got some cousins?" And adds, "I hope it's a good athlete."
The audience is next shown an image of David flicking through a scrapbook and discovering that he's related to Bernie. "What the hell?!"
After digesting the news, Larry said: "Oh that's so funny. That is really funny. That is amazing... Alright, Cousin Bernie!"
When the news was broken to Bernie Sanders, he immediately asked: "You're kidding!" He added: "People say to me, you know, they talk about Larry David. And I say he does a better Bernie Sanders than I do. Oh my God!"
