The two billionaires traded insults over X and Truth Social
Though many had predicted the Donald Trump - Elon Musk bromance wouldn't last long, few could have foreseen it would play out in such a spectacularly petty, vindictive and public fashion.
As the two billionaires traded insults on their respective social media platforms, the internet was quick to react:
“Broooos please noooooo... We love you both so much,” said rapper turned MAGA-fanatic Kanye West.
Responding to the feud, as well as West's comments, former White Stripes frontman Jack White had a viral reaction: “3 fucking nazi clowns collapsing under the weight of their own unchecked egos. More popcorn gruppenfuehrer!”
Franklin Leonard, an American film producer, said "the funniest possible outcome is definitely Trump deporting him," in reference to Musk's South African nationality.
Speaking to reporters in Washington DC, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said "Oh man, the girls are fighting, aren’t they?”

Last Friday, Trump and Musk were all smiles in the White House, as the President handed the wealthiest man in the world a symbolic key for his work with DOGE (which among many "achievements" slashed aid programs that provided humanitarian help to the world's poorest countries).
The relationship quickly soured on Thursday afternoon, after Musk began criticising Trump’s "One Big Beautiful Bill Act", claiming it would increase the national debt.
Among a long string of tweets over several hours, Musk said Trump would've lost the election without his help, speculated on his ties to Epstein and called for his impeachment. Trump hit back by threatening to cut all of Musk’s federal contracts.
