Irish Politician To Lead Anti-Trump Rally In USA

This follows last year's event which attracted over 1,500 people to the iconic Manhattan venue inspired by Senator Ó Ríordáin's anti-Trump speech which has been viewed over 50 million times worldwide.
Senator Ó Ríordáin said: "The hypocrisy of Irish-Americans wearing green on St.Patrick's Day while supporting Donald Trump's racist agenda is only matched by the hypocrisy of Irish politicians who preach equality at home but rub shoulders with the far-right in the White House.
"While the Taoiseach has diplomatic responsibilities as head of government when it comes to the traditional White House visit, there is absolutely no excuse for any other Irish political leader to be validating this odious administration on St. Patrick's Day.
"I am delighted that once again Colum Eastwood of the SDLP will be boycotting the event, and that he will be joining me in celebrating the true immigrant story of the Irish as we take an 'Irish Stand' together."
Also speaking at the event will be members of the Kennedy family, on the 50th anniversary of Robert Kennedy's Presidential declaration.
Author Colum McCann, comedian Maeve Higgins, writer Jose Vargas and a host of international performers and activists will be taking part in Irish Stand, which will be hosted by CNN contributor Joan Walsh.
