Enda Kenny congratulates Trump
Taoiseach Enda Kenny has responded to the news that Donald Trump has been elected as the 45th President of The United States.
In a statement, the Taoiseach spoke about Ireland and the United States' close and warm relationship and says he is "confident that under [Trump’s] leadership, our bilateral relations will continue to prosper."
Kenny also said that Ireland, as a nation, thinks of Hillary Clinton as a friend to Ireland and he commended her on such a well fought campaign.
The statement also mentioned Kenny's views on pursuing immigration reform, calling it "an issue that is so important to tens of thousands of Irish people who are making a major contribution to America."
