Banksy takes responsibility for London statue
Many have labelled the statue as a representation of "blind patriotism", as his pieces are often considered political statements, sometimes leading to their removal.
Banksy has confirmed that a new statue erected in central London is his work.
The sculpture, which appeared in London's Waterloo Place earlier this week, depicts a suited man blinded by a flag covering his face, appearing to walk off the stand. Banksy's signature also appears at the base of the statue.
The elusive artist and political activist took to social media yesterday to confirm his responsibility for the piece.
The statue has brought in an increasing volume of crowds, with safety barriers put in place around the piece on Thursday afternoon.
Many have labelled the statue as a representation of "blind patriotism", as his pieces are often considered political statements, sometimes leading to their removal.
The artist has several works scattered around London, including a 2004 statue called The Drinker, installed in the West End before being stolen.
