Actor John Connors Criticises New Fine Gael Leader
The Love/Hate star has expressed his disappointment with Leo Varadkar for his "cryptic quotes" and for failing to address the issue of social class in Irish society.
The 27-year-old traveller said social class is "the biggest problem and it’s the silent problem that no one talks about".
The Dublin actor said he was disappointed to hear the Taoiseach-in-waiting speak about wanting to lead a party for "people who get up early in the morning”.
John Connors had this piece of criticism to say about the new Fine Gael leader: “Even if you look at Leo Varadkar, it’s mad the way that he’s coming up with these cryptic quotes. He said he wants to be Taoiseach for people who get up in the morning and I think that’s all code."
Speaking in this morning Irish Daily Mirror, he added: "No one wants to face up to it and have a direct conversation about class. We’re starting to have a conversation about gender and I think that’s great but class is the overall issue. A woman from a certain class could be very privileged in this country.”
