Zayn Malik Takes The Beatles As Influence For Upcoming Album
Ex-One Direction star Zayn Malik has recently revealed to NME that his upcoming album, 'Mind Of Mine' has a heavy influence from The Beatles.
After quitting pop super group One Direction, Malik's first solo album is set to debut on March 25th 2016. A year after Malik took his departure from the band, his debut solo single, 'Pillowtalk' reached No. 1 in both the UK and the U.S. Unbelievably, the single charted higher than any One Direction song had in the U.S.
Speaking to NME Magazine, Malik revealed; "I was listening to a lot of John Lennon the week I got that loop, and there was this one song I got addicted to, with Indian music at the front of it." Influences like The Beatles' track 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds' contributed to the final formation of Malik's sound in his upcoming album Mind of Mine.
When asked to explain the meaning behind the title, Malik stated: "It’s really reflective of the whole experience that I want to give the listener. I wanted it to be almost like a brainstorm. It’s just music and it’s just whatever you’re feeling at that moment in time."
Zayn Malik's debut solo album, Mind Of Mine, is available on iTunes from March 25th 2016.
