Wrought Iron
Wigan-inspired, samey piano dirges. Hard going.
Inspired by the sunny climes of Wigan (yes, really) Wrought Iron is Nancy Elizabeth’s second stab at success and judging by what’s on offer, her career won’t be taking off incredibly anytime soon. Taking her cues from Bat For Lashes and Alela Diane, the album could be used as a drug-free solution to insomnia: every song sounds exactly the same. If you’re into mid-paced piano-led dirges and lyrics that sound like a junior Kate Bush then you might find something of interest on Wrought Iron but the rest of you are better off getting the Florence And The Machine album instead.
KEY TRACK: 'CAT BELLS'
