Mick Harvey & Amanda Acevedo announce new album Psychedelia in White

Former Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds member Mick Harvey and Mexican singer-songwriter Amanda Acevedo have announced their upcoming album Psychedelia in White, set to release September 4. This is the duo's third album together, and is a follow up to their 2023 album Phantasmagoria in Blue.

Alongside the announcement, the Australian-Mexican duo shared their new single 'Perfect Storm'.

"I wrote the lyrics of 'Perfect Storm' after Peter McNestry sent me an early instrumental of his composition with that title. His music took my imagination to a very specific place, and it was easy for me to know what I needed to write," said Acevedo.

"It's a journey and a statement of confidence and playfulness, mixed with a dark stormy feeling. The Storm starts to develop slowly and as it grows and grows its presence becomes impossible to ignore."

The duo will begin their autumn tour starting in Dublin on October 14 at Vicar Street and will end in London at the 100 Club on November 4. Alongside them will be rock band Mercury Rev for the first 10 shows.

The 10-track album represents a seismic progression in the duo's songwriting. Picking up on mythologies and folklore through tracks like 'Medusa' and 'Atlantis', the album is an odyssey that takes many twists and turns.

Within the seven original materials, there are three reinterpretations including a newly recorded version of P.J. Harvey's 'Slow-Motion-Movie-Star' and translations by Harvey and Acevedo of Silvio Rodríquez's 'Sueño Con Serpientes’ (‘Dream of Serpents’).

The two met several years ago in Mexico City while Harvey was on tour with P.J. Harvey, though it wasn't until 2021 that their current project would burst into life.
