Wrath Of God
Listeners who’ve found themselves terminally terrified by the head-butting noise pop of Crystal Castles have plenty to fear about the band’s upcoming third album, even if production whiz Ethan Kath has admitted to enforcing a “strictly no computers rule,” to coax their sound into a new direction. Judging by ‘Wrath Of God’, the plan’s worked; the record’s first single is more refined and, in parts, more gentle than the all-out aural madness that’s gone before, but thanks to Alice Glass’ panted, muffled screams, their wonderfully weird schtick remains as haunting as ever.
