Willow has released her new seventh studio album, Petal Rock Black, via Three Six Zero.
The album was written and produced by Willow and features collaborations with George Clinton, Kamasi Washington, and Tune-Yards.
Petal Rock Black is described as "a personal offering that honours the labour of creation: of self, of sound, of community."
"It’s a celebration of life, of artistic dedication, and of all those who use their hands to shift culture toward something more beautiful," said Willow.
The album follows on from her 2024 album, Empathogen, which she debuted on NPR’s Tiny Desk. The record placed No. 1 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Albums chart and No. 3 on the Jazz Albums chart in the US and featured collaborations with artists including Jon Batiste.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Willow made her acting debut in the 2007 film I Am Legend alongside her father, Will Smith, and later appeared in Kit Kittredge: An American Girl with Abigail Breslin.
She embarked on a musical career with her 2010 pop single 'Whip My Hair', which peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.
