Wicklow's BD Festival postponed to Easter 2022
The festival will now take place next spring, April 16 and 17.
This year's BD Festival has been rescheduled. Though originally planned for this weekend, October 23 and 24, the Co. Wicklow festival will now take place Easter weekend, April 16 and 17, 2022.
The festival organisers announced the postponement with "a heavy heart," explaining in a statement that the decision was made in response to Taoiseach Micheál Martin's announcement regarding the lifting of restrictions on October 22.
For live events, it was confirmed that live entertainment should be fully seated, which affects events such as Wicklow's BD Festival.
"Without government reassurance that reopening will proceed as planned we cannot provide an environment in which all our BD fans can truly re-live the unique festival experience we have all missed so much," said the festival organisers. "Whilst we have done everything in our power to ensure the festival goes ahead, the restrictions make the event unfeasible, as the safety and welfare of every single person at BD Festival is our number one priority."
The BD Festival organisers have assured attendees that current tickets will be valid at the postponed dates. Refunds will also be available. In addition, they are curating a live stream for October 24 for current ticket holders. The livestream will include some of the international artists that were originally on the lineup.
