White Soul [Ninthwave]

Stepping away for the time being from his duties as singer for electro-pop legends Empire State Human, Aidan Casserly’s solo effort is a surprisingly lo-fi collection of tunes that bear little similarity to what he turns out in his day-job. That’s no bad thing, as the change of pace is refreshing. Many of the tracks are stripped bare with skeletal instrumentation rather than studio trickery backing up Aidan’s dynamic voice. His ability to tell a story (‘Smoke Beside The Fire’) in a melodic way is impressive and White Soul effortlessly proves that he’s got multiple strings to his bow.
