What Do You Take Me For
It really is quite remarkable how record companies think they can totally rebrand their pop stars without any of us noticing. Last time we checked, 20 year-old Pixie Lott was every bit as cute as her name, all chiffon skirts, glitter tattoos and festival braids. Now, out of nowhere they’ve replaced her with Pixie Lott 2.0, a sexed-up thrust machine who wouldn’t dream of stepping out in anything but a bum-skimming mini-dress. Plus, she’s got a bob now, and we all know what that means. Even more bizarre is the appearance of Kanye cohort Pusha T on Lott’s new track, the provocatively titled, ‘What Do You Take Me For?’, but at least it’s got more bite than her atrociously happy previous single ‘All About Tonight’. In fact, slightly wobbly dance moves aside, Pixie plays the part of sex kitten pop princess rather well, and if baffling collaborations is what it takes to upgrade her sound, so be it.
