Wet Dreams
The second album from London tech-house rude boys Get Fucked, and, despite their penchant for dirty track titles – the highlights here are ‘Love Balls’ and ‘Dirty Birds’ – their sound has progressed and erm, even matured from 1999’s debut album, Dot To Dot. While its predecessor was almost cartoon like in its delivery, Wet Dreams is a wider ranging and more polished set of floor grooves.

Coles, Hess and co. flirt with break beat structures – check the bug eyed ‘Unreleased Kraut Jazz’ or the deeper, more musical ‘Technics Blisters’ and though the brunt of their material still hinges on 4/4s, these now alternate between dub tinged grooves – ‘Dreams Are Made’ and ‘Hangover’, and tough tribal techno filled with cheeky acid undercurrents. Despite an ability to represent increasingly diverse styles, Get Fucked are at their best when they opt for tripped out, hypnotically funky 4am grooves like ‘One To Play Your Mum’ and ‘Dirty Birds’. Naughty but very, very nice.
