Were PiL right to play in Israel & China?
Let us know your thoughts in our HP survey...
Should bands boycott countries like Israel and China? Speaking to Hot Press, punk legend John Lydon of PiL reveals the reasoning behind his band PiL playing in China -
"I spoke to a lot of people who are trying to develop a music industry in China, and their pet hate is Bjork because when she stood on that stage and shouted ‘Free Tibet!’ she made the government go, ‘Right, no more rock ‘n’ roll'", Lydon tells Stuart Clark. "The shutters came down and a lot of people involved in music were jailed. You don’t victimise the very people who might actually understand your message."
Let us know your thoughts on the matter below, and read Lydon's full interview in next week's issue of Hot Press.
