Welcome Joy
Murder City Devil makes comely soft rock album
While no-one expected bassist and Pretty Girls Make Graves founder Derek Fudesco to get all folked up when his group disbanded, this writer for one is glad he did as the Cave Singers’ second album is an absolute joy. Taking the wholesome, lush sounds of the first release and combining it with great production, the record is a Fleetwood Mac-tinged opus that’s a million miles away from his life as part of punk rockers the Murder City Devils. The addition of Amber from Black Mountain and Ashley from Lightning Dust is also a bit of a masterstroke and their contributions to tracks like ‘Summer Light’ are utterly uplifting. Maybe a change is as good as a rest after all.
