Weekend preview extravaganza!
Temple House Festival, F.M.C. Tour and lots more to choose from
It's Friday and that means it's time to plan how to use up that sweet, sweet time off. Festival season continues with a full head of steam in the form of Sligo's Temple House Festival (June 10-12). Kicking off right about now with Ash, The Flaws and Ryan Sheridan among this evening's headliners, the festival offers tremendous variety across the whole weekend.
Having been voted 'Best New Festival' at last year's European Festival Awards, Temple House aims to improve even further this year. Boasting over 100 acts across four stages, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Among the other excellent acts performing are Aslan, Stereo MCs, Lisa Hannigan, Miracle Bell, Heathers, Bipolar Empire, Whipping Boy and many more. If you can't make it across to Sligo, there's plenty on offer elsewhere. The First Music Contact Tour stops off at Whelan's for what promises to be an unforgettable night at the Wexford Street venue. Headlined by the always-impressive Adebisi Shank with fantastic support coming in the form of Temple House-bound Heathers and the brilliant O Emperor, this is one evening you simply can't afford to miss out on.
Meanwhile, The Jägermeister Freezer Sessions in association with Hot Press hits Limerick this Saturday June 11. Dolan's Warehouse will play host to a fantastic line-up of top Irish talent with Fight Like Apes, Royseven, The Minutes and Fox Jaw Bounty Hunters completing the bill.
Further south, Cork plays host to The Frames as they get set to rock The Marquee, while Rory Gallagher fans can enjoy the Cork Rocks For Rory Weekend taking place in Cyprus Avenue and various other locations across the weekend. Don't forget that this Sunday marks your last chance to visit the Philip Lynott Exhibition in St Stephen's Green Shopping Centre. For months, the exhibition has thrilled fans of Philo and Thin Lizzy but sadly the curtain must come down on Sunday June 12. If you've yet to experience the sights and sounds of this incredible tribute, be sure to avoid disappointment and pay a visit before Sunday evening!
