Waterline
Sounding more and more like a post-budget-cut Backstreet Boys every day, Jedward debut their prospective second Eurovision entry ‘Waterline’, a breathy, ecstatic, Bambi-eyed number about first love. Granted, it’s not quite as body-poppingly infectious as last year’s entry ‘Lipstick’ (“I prefer their earlier work,” etc.) but that shouldn’t stop ‘Waterline’ from making it through to the competition’s finals in Azerbaijan. Of course, the quiffed duo will first have to suffer through a drove of Late Late Show panelists tutting heavily, rolling their eyes and churning out patronising quips like, “Ah, sure look, it’s a bit of fun…”, all the while ignoring the fact that chord for chord, lyric for lyric, ‘Waterline’ is a far better track than anything else that made the cut.
