When Shad T Scott isn’t programming for acts like No Doubt and Alanis Morissette, he likes nothing better than travelling to the farthest depths of electro’s outer limits as Gosub. The squelchy bass and female android voice on ‘The Rain Comes Down’ sets an ominous tone, but try as he might to escape his pop affiliations, Watchers isn’t all about cold, mechanical robot rhythms. ‘Laugh Track’ borrows the infectious, cheesy synths of classic Italo and ‘Mind Travel’, with its beautiful melodies and daft narrative about space travel, shows that there is a human lurking behind those machines.
