She looks like a cross between Brigitte Bardot and Mena Suvari (and dear Lord, do we hate her for it), but there’s more to Lana Del Rey than Jessica Rabbit lips and that gang of drooling teenage boys who monitor her every hair-flick from the Starbucks across from her apartment. The 24 year-old New Yorker also happens to be a dead vocal ringer for Nancy Sinatra and with the melancholy ‘Video Games’, she’s proved she can write one hell of a love song. In fact, her first release is so simple and so beautiful, it’s a wonder it hasn’t been written before.
