VARO to play National Concert Hall with The World That I Knew collaborators John Francis Flynn, Junior Brother and more
The duo will be joined by a range of special guests including Junior brother, Niamh Bury and John Francis Flynn.
Folk duo VARO have announced a headline show at The National Concert Hall as part of Metronome Festival on Thursday, October 16, 2025, featuring special guests from their new album, The World That I Knew.
The performance will see them joined by Junior Brother, Niamh Bury,Anna Mieke, Branwen, John Francis Flynn, and Alannah Thornburgh (ALFI) plus support from sound artist Méabh McKenna.
VARO are made up of Dublin-based singers and fiddle players Lucie Azconaga (from France) and Consuelo Nerea Breschi (from Italy) who perform Irish traditional songs and tunes with influences from the folk, baroque and classical traditions.
The duo met in 2015 having moved to Dublin to pursue their love for Irish traditional music. They travelled to Ireland along different musical paths, Lucie from jazz, classical music, and French folk, Consuelo from Irish trad, folk, and world music.
The new record, The World That I Knew, which was five years in the making, discusses challenging and historical times the world was experiencing during the lockdown in 2020/2021. Varo aimed to create something meaningful in a time of social and political uncertainty.
