Van Morrison to perform two exclusive 'lunch and show' concerts in Belfast

 Van Morrison will take to the stage in his home city for two exclusive 'In The Afternoon' concerts on Sunday, April 5 and Monday, April 6 at the Europa Hotel in Belfast.

Attendees can look forward to his trademark fusion of blues, soul and jazz, with performances set to see the legend perform songs old and new, from a vast discography that has kept him at the fore of popular music across the world for over sixty years.

Before the Van performances, fans can enjoy a unique opportunity in the form of a scrumptious three-course lunch, put together by The Europa's award-winning team of chefs.

Often considered the finest songwriter that this island has ever produced, Van Morrison rose to fame in the 60s with his band Them, whose hit 'Gloria' has gone on to be a bona-fide rock classic, covered by everyone from Patti Smith to Jimi Hendrix to David Bowie. Van's debut solo album Blowin Your Mind! was released in 1967 and featured the timeless classic 'Brown Eyed Girl'. The rest, as they say, is history. Since then, the Belfast native has gone on to enjoy a stellar career of number one albums, Grammy awards, and an influence that continues to stretch to the corners of the globe.

He has released a number of critically acclaimed records in the last few years, the most recent being Somebody Tried To Sell Me A Bridge. Having arrived in January, the track list comprised his versions of classic tunes with original material, resulting in "a great blues album from one of the enduring greats of contemporary music..."

Van was also among the legends performing at Hot Press' History In the Making: The Concert at the 3Arena in Dublin, where he and his extraordinary band commanded the stage "with the ice cool energy that only an artist who's been honing his chops for decades could possess."
