He plays The Workman's Club in February.
Best known as the bassist for Vampire Weekend, Chris Baio also plays under the alias 'Baio' in a solo, synth-pop capacity and February 22 finds him performing in The Workman's Club, Dublin.
Showing an interest in music from an early age, the New York native started buying records and attending concerts before the age of ten. Later, while attending Columbia University, Baio worked his way up to music director at nearby college radio station WBAR and, in 2006, formed Vampire Weekend with Ezra Koenig, Rostam Batmanglij, and Chris Tomson, who were all finishing their studies at Columbia.
Baio relocated to London two years back and began crystallising ideas he'd had for a solo project. His solo debut, a grooving electro-pop confection entitled The Names, was released by Glassnote in September.
Tickets for the Dublin show are priced at €16 and go on sale this Friday from usual outlets.
