U2’s ‘Every Breaking Wave’ is Hot Press Track of 2014
Choice cut from Songs of Innocence grabs top spot in our end-of-year poll The release of Songs of Innocence may have caused a storm at the time, but now that the dust has settled, the quality of U2’s newest LP is clear for all to see.
Little surprise, then, that ‘Every Breaking Wave’, a standout from the record, takes the plaudits as the Hot Press Track of 2014.
It’s not the only success for the band, either, with ‘The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)’ also pleasing the ears of our voters, appearing in eighth position. While Damien Rice’s fantastic ‘I Don’t Want To Change You’ secures second position, it’s a parade of international artists who make up the majority of the top ten.
Radio favourites Taylor Swift, Iggy Azalea and Ed Sheeran all feature, as do Future Islands and Kasabian. It’s certainly been a heck of a year for some top-quality tunes; to check out what else made our fab fifty, pick up a copy of the Hot Press Annual in stores or online now!
