U2's Bono surprises Dolly Parton on her 80th birthday
Yesterday, the country singer celebrated her birthday in her home state Tennesse.
Bono sent a bagpiper and a cake to Dolly Parton to celebrate her 80th birthday.
Parton was serenaded by the Nashville-based Irish musician Patrick D'Arcy, who was sent by Bono along with the other members of the band.
D'Arcy performed the tune of ‘Happy Birthday’ on the bagpipes as the country icon was presented with a cake, which had "Love ... Bono" in iced lettering as well as some candles.
"Well, thank you," said Parton. "I saw that cake said, ‘From Bono’, so he must have sent you as a present to me? Well, thank you guys. I appreciate all of you."
The American singer even joked, asking if the present was a way of calling her an "old bag".
Parton shared the video of her reaction to this gift on her social media, thanking Bono and U2.

The Dublin-born bagpiper also shared this moment on his social media, posting some pictures of himself with the country icon.
"This morning I had the pleasure of playing a few tunes, on behalf of Bono and the boys, for Dolly Parton for her 80th birthday," said D'Arcy.
"I played uilean pipes and bagpipes (madness, I know), but it was well received. I also presented her with a pint of Guinness. There was even a time for a nice chat. She was exactly who you'd hope she'd be."
Ahead of her birthday, Dolly released a new version of the 1977 song ‘Light of a Clear Blue Morning’ to honour the track's 50th anniversary.
The single features Queen Latifah, Reba McEntire, Lainey Wilson and Parton's goddaughter Miley Cyrus.
The proceeds from the single will be donated to the paediatric cancer research program at a children's hospital in Nashville.
To celebrate Dolly's birthday, Hot Press revisited and republished an interview with the American music icon.
It was originally published in 2014, and it is available to read here.
