U2 release 'Red Hill Mining Town' for Record Store Day
Primal Scream, The Doors, Sia, The Cure, Iggy Pop & David Holmes are also getting in on the act!
U2 join April 22’s Record Store Day fray with a 2017 mix of ‘Red Hill Mining Town’ that’s being made available as a limited edition 12” picture disc.
Originally earmarked as the second single to be lifted from The Joshua Tree, it got bumped in favour of ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’ and the rest, as they say, is history.
Other Irish offerings include Andrew Weatherall mixes of BP Fallon & David Holmes’ ‘Henry McCullough’, which will be on coloured splatter vinyl with reflective gold mirror sleeve, and Gilbert O’Sullivan who’s re-releasing his 1971 Himself album. There will undoubtedly be others!
We’ll also be doing our very best to bag The Cure’s Acoustic Hits, the six-sided David Bowie’s Cracked Actor (Live Los Angeles ’74), The Doors’ The Matrix ’67, Iggy Pop’s Post Pop Depression: Live At The Albert Hall, Iron & Wine’s Archives Series Vol. 3, Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes’ Live At Jones Beach, Lou Reed’s Perfect Night: Live In London, Peter Hook & The Light’s Movement – Live In Dublin Vol. 1 & 2 and Power, Corruption & Lies – Live In Dublin Vol. 1 & 2, Primal Scream’s Mixamatosis, Stevie Nicks’ Rarities 1981-1985, Sia’s This Is Acting: The Spotify Sessions, and an Africa-shaped picture disc of Toto’s… yep, you’ve guessed it, ‘Africa’.
