Tripper
Forgettable fifth album from the Fruity ones.
Something of an ongoing musical side-project for sometime Shins, Califone and Vetiver man Eric D. Johnson, Tripper is the fifth album under the Fruit Bats moniker. Unfortunately, it’s as toothless as a teddy bear. While the breezy boogie woogie of ‘Dolly’ and the tunesome ‘Heart Like An Orange’ will have you whistling along in no time, mediocre hippy-dippy ditties like ‘Tony The Tripper’ and ‘Shivering Fawn’ sound like Devendra Banhart cast-offs. This one is strictly for Fruit Bats devotees.
