The Swedish pop star was 61.
Marie Fredriksson, remembered as one half of '80s pop-rock duo Roxette, has died, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Swedish newspaper Expressen broke the news, stating: "It is with great sadness that we have to announce that one of our biggest and most beloved artists is gone."
Shooting to international attention in the late '80s with hits like 'It Must Have Been Love', 'The Look', 'Listen To Your Heart' and 'Dangerous', Roxette have sold an estimated 75 million records worldwide. Fredriksson also released several solo albums throughout her life, with her most recent album, Nu!, released in 2013.
Fredriksson was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2002. She continued to perform up until her retirement in 2016. Fredriksson is survived by her husband, producer Mikael Bolyos and her two children, Josefin and Oscar.
Fredriksson's Roxette partner, Per Gessle, leads the tributes, following news of her death at the age of 61.
