Speculation mounted after a reddit user leaked an image claiming to be from Kobalt Music Group's internal database, listing a September 16th release of a new Nine Inch Nails single called Dive and Slam.

The reddit user posted: "I work in the music industry. I don't have the song but it's on our 'to be released' list."

The 51-year-old singer/songwriter tweeted at the end of last year that "New NIN coming in 2016. Other stuff, too."

And it had previously been suggested the rock band would release a new single in September, according to a listing posted on the online music database Discogs.

However, Reznor has since taken to Twitter to shoot down the speculation, and yesterday posted a message that simply read: "Not true."
