Kingfishr have released their latest five-track EP featuring the lead single ‘Shadow.’

Rising indie-folk band Kingfishr have released their stellar new EP Shadow, comprising previously released singles ‘Leave,’ ‘Shot in the Dark’ and ‘flowers-fire (rework),’ as well as unreleased tracks ‘Coward’ and ‘Shadow.’

Effortlessly weaving between uplifting and heartbreaking, the EP’s lead single and title track is a story of contrast, the haunting vocals of Edmond Keogh blending perfectly with the track’s jangly melodies and intimate lyricism.

“Shadow' is about the consequences of burying pieces of yourself,” the band said of the track. “There’s an idea that ‘The Shadow’ is everything you suppress about your psyche. Those unseen elements of yourself rule you and you have no idea. The song is an ode to this.”

A Limerick-based three-piece, Kingfishr kicked off 2024 with a bang, starting the year with a festival appearance at Euronsonic before moving on to play six sold-out headlines across the UK, with two more yet to come as the band make their way to Ireland in March.

The trio have also announced that they will be supporting Tom Walker on his upcoming 14-date tour of Ireland and the UK before opening for Snow Patrol at Thomond Park Stadium in July. That same weekend, Kingfishr will also make their debut appearance at TRNSMT Festival in Scotland with performances at the prestigious Reading and Leeds festivals to follow in August.
