Track of the Day: Joshua Burnside – 'and you evade him/born in the blood'
Joshua Burnside takes a step in a different direction with the track that accompanies his highly anticipated album announcement.
Belfast native Joshua Burnside has returned once again with 'and you evade him/born in the blood'. The astonishing, brooding folk rock track is accompanied by a long-awaited album announcement: Into the Depths of Hell will be released on September 4th as the highly-anticipated follow up to Burnside's award-winning debut album Ephrata.
'and you evade him' manages to hold on to Burnside's delicate, Celtic folk vocal styling while simultaneously exploring the furthest reaches of the genre. Dark, brooding classic rock inspired riffs give way to off-kilter and unexpected climaxes. The song is embroiled in turmoil – all the hallmarks of an artist reckoning with his rapidly changing world are present in its post-apocalyptic universe. If this track is anything to go on, fans of Burnside will be chomping at the bit for Into the Depths of Hell.
