Top Gear Christmas specials reportedly cancelled
The annual extravaganzas are abandoned as reboot crisis continues
Watching Clarkson and co. in weird and wacky adventures - from the North Pole to deserts - was a staple part of the Top Gear calendar; but no more.
Reports today suggest that a pair of special episodes scheduled to air at Christmas have been pulled following the resignation of Chris Evans. The TFI Friday man stepped down after a series which saw viewing figures drop to record lows, and critics unimpressed at efforts to revive the show without its iconic trio of presenters.
The BBC confirmed that work on Series 24 has already begun, with shooting planned for September; it's understood that Matt LeBlanc will be promoted to the lead presenter's role in Evans' absence.
