Tom Parker of The Wanted reveals inoperable brain tumour diagnosis
Parker and his pregnant wife gave an exclusive interview to 'Ok!' to raise awareness.
Tom Parker, a member of boy band The Wanted, has shared that he has stage four glioblastoma (an aggressive, cancerous tumour) in his brain. Parker is 32 years old, and has begun chemotherapy and radiation treatment in the hopes of prolonging his life.
"There's no easy way to say this," the singer wrote in an Instagram post, "but I've sadly been diagnosed with a brain tumour and I'm already undergoing treatment...
"We are all absolutely devastated but we are gonna fight this all the way," he continued.
"We don't want your sadness. We just want love and positivity and together we will raise awareness of this terrible disease and look for all available treatment options. It's gonna be a tough battle but with everyone's love and support we are going to beat this."
Parker and his wife, Kelsey Hardwick – who has a baby due in a month – gave an exclusive interview to Ok! Magazine, where Hardwick said: "they rang me and told me over the phone. They said, 'It’s a tumour and it’s worst-case scenario.' They also told us it was inoperable and what the treatment would be. I was in a complete state." She was unable to be in the hospital with Parker due to COVID-19.
"It was like everything stopped. Obviously being told you have any tumour is bad, but to be told you have the worst one is a lot to take in."
The Wanted formed in 2009.
