THUMPER to part ways following final show in Dublin

Irish band THUMPER have announced they will perform one final show at Dublin's Button Factory on October 25, before they part ways.

"Truly this band has been everything to us," the band announced on Instagram, thanking their fans and management.

"It has come time for us to close the chapter on this band, but we do it still with so much love for each other."

The psych-rockers upcoming performances at All Together Now and Electric Picnic will be their final festival appearances. Their upcoming tour dates in Galway, Limerick, Cork and Belfast have been cancelled.

Their sophomore album Sleeping With The Light On, was released in February and scored an 8/10 from Hot Press. The album takes a darker path than their debut, Delusions of Grandeur, for which the band received a RTÉ Choice Awards nomination.

The six-piece band have said their latest album reflects their shifting tastes and musical development. “I say isolation is the theme on the album, but maybe it’s togetherness," singer Oisín Leahy Furlong told Hot Press in March.

“I think at this stage it’s fair to say we have created a ‘Thumper world’," he continued.

"A set of colours and shapes that are ours. We just operate on that ethos, and if you don’t like it, fair play, go listen to something else.”
