This Warm December: A Bushfire Holiday Vol. 1
This Warm December sounds like a few sleepy songs bashed out and recorded just for the sake of it.
This Warm December is a collection of Christmas tunes featuring the likes of Jack Johnson, Neal Halstead and various other acoustic guitar waving folksy types. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, this reviewer has given the record a fairly bog standard two and a half stars and it’s not because I’m one of the Bah Humbug brigade, it’s due to the fact that in my eyes, no-one can do Crimbo classics better than Slade, Mud, Wizzard and Phil Spector. Those songs had more kick than a mule and were large, overblown tributes to the time of year when we all collectively lose the run of ourselves. This Warm December on the other hand merely sounds like a few sleepy songs bashed out and recorded just for the sake of it. It’s not all bad though, Zee Avi’s ‘No Christmas For Me’ is ace but this time next month, this will be consigned to the bargain bin along with the out of date mince pies and mulled wine.
Key Track: Zee Avi – ‘No Christmas For Me’
