They Call
As the man behind some of our favourite electronic hip hop concoctions, Portadown producer SertOne knows a thing or two about groove – the good kind, the kind you can’t help but nod your head to. Case in point: Shapes In The Sky, the 23-year-old’s fifth E.P. in 16 months, and his third to feature only original compositions. There are some seriously harsh sounds coursing through these four tracks, and I don’t just mean menacing melodies and whirling beats (although, they’re there too, in scads); the Africa Hitech-sampling ‘They Call’ is even punctuated by the sound of a loading shotgun. But then, it could be interspersed with clips of Jackie Collins reading from her latest work of erotic fiction, and my neck would still be getting a workout.
