English rapper, songwriter and producer Mike Skinner has announced that his project The Streets will return with an album, a feature film and a tour across the UK and Ireland.
The Darker The Shadow, The Brighter The Light is scheduled for release on 20 October via 679 Recordings/Warner Music UK and will be the first Streets LP in over a decade.

"It has been seven long years working on this film and album. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and after dipping my toe in with some shorts and music videos, I felt I was ready,” said The Streets. “Ultimately it’s all the fruits of a decade on the DJ circuit, watching people in clubs and back rooms, testing out beats and basslines to see what connected - and putting it all together into The Darker The Shadow The Brighter The Light.”
The Darker The Shadow, The Brighter The Light has been described as a “classic Streets album”, filled with Skinner’s trademark lyrical style and beats. It is available for pre-order on The Streets website.
The associated film is set to be a “noir murder mystery” based in Londons’ clubland. Skinner has written, directed, shot, edited, scored, funded, and even created his own special effects on the film.
In support of the album the Streets will be heading out on tour which includes a night in Dublin’s 3Olympia Theatre on 24 October.
Tickets start from €45.55 and go on sale on Friday 18 August at 9am. Visit www.mcd.ie/artists/the-streets for more information.
