The Slits play reunion gig in Dublin
There’s joyous news for punk fans with ’76 legends The Slits playing a reunion gig in Dublin’s CrawDaddy.
In addition to original members Ari Up, Viv Albertine and Palmolive –not necessarily their real names – they’ll be joined on April 20 by dub maestro extraordinaire Adrian Sherwood who’s also worked with Sinéad O’Connor.
Contemporaries of the Clash and the Sex Pistols – Ari Up’s mum, Nora, went on to marry Johnny Rotten/Lydon – the band’s dubwise take on punk resulted in the much revered Cut album.
An influence on everybody from The Rapture to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, they’re currently working on an EP of new material, which will be released to coincide with their visit.
