The Script announce warm up gig at The Academy ahead of Electric Picnic set
Recently announced as the Electric Picnic secret headliner, The Script have arranged a Friday night gig to warm them up before making the trip to Stradbally.
Playing their first Irish gig since the passing of founding member Mark Sheehan earlier this year, The Script have announced they will play The Academy this Friday, September 1, ahead of their Electric Picnic set.
With the band used to playing stadiums all over the world, this is a unique opportunity to see Danny O'Donoghue and Glen Power in close proximity.
Announcing the gig on Instagram, a post from the band said: "This is going to be BIG. We’re coming home! We are performing in Dublin Friday September 1st at @academydublin! Tickets go on sale Wednesday Aug 30th at 10am. #TheScriptFamily can’t wait to see you there."
The group were announced as the surprise Electric Picnic headliner just last week to mixed reaction, but it's clear the band are dedicated to their festival commitments.
Tickets for the special gig will go on sale tomorrow, August 30, through Ticketmaster, and are expected to sell out extremely fast.
On Friday, the doors of the venue are expected to open at 7pm, with The Script expected to take the stage at approximately 8.30pm.
