The band's second album comes highly anticipated as the band has built a following with their experimental approach to their music, fusing heavy metal and Irish folk music into a unique sound. Having emerged in 2016, the band has sold out shows across Ireland, Europe and North America. This summer they've been accompanying the iconic Boston-Irish outfit Dropkick Murphys on their European tour and have played at major European festivals including Co. Waterford's All Together Now.
Newly signed with Sony Music Ireland, The Scratch now have ample resources to bring their sound to the next level.
Daniel Lang (cajón, percussion, lead vocals) commented on the lead single. "Myself, Jordo (guitar, lead vocals) and James McMorrow came back from the pub one night and started playing. It was one of those moments where somebody kicked things off and everyone fell into a groove behind it, we all just sat in it, enjoying a symbiotic moment together... There has never been room for a song like this before with us – when it comes to The Scratch, it’s a bit leftfield which makes it exciting, plus it feels like the right tune to introduce listeners to the many twists and turns this album takes."
The Scratch has also announced a series of tour dates across Europe and the UK, starting with a string of Irish dates in October. Their Cork date is on October 29th in Cork Opera House as part of this year's Guinness Cork Jazz Festival, Cork's internationally renowned, massive annual music festival.
Pre-sale will be available this Thursday 24th August, followed by general onsale on Friday 25th August at 10am. You can find more information on the band's website.
