The Riptide Movement - Getting Through
Riptide's new record is sure to make waves.
It really does feel the stars have aligned for The Riptide Movement. They recently inked a licensing deal with Universal Music, shared a stage with the Stones at Hyde Park and in Getting Through have made an album which may very well be a career-defining work. It’s produced by Ted Hutt (the architect of the Gaslight Anthem’s still spine-tingling LP The ‘59 Sound). The former Flogging Molly guitarist captures the Dublin four-piece at their best on a ten-track offering that should see the band take things to the next level.
Opening with ‘Animal’, a raucous rock song with a big, bolshy chorus, Getting Through is full of passion and poise. The euphoric ‘It All Works Out’ is impossible not to love, while the campfire anthem that is the title-track shows the Riptide Movement don’t have to get loud and lairy to make an impact. Elsewhere, ‘You And I’ has a fun Faces vibe, ‘Friday To Sunday’ will find favour with those who spend their days living for the weekend. ‘Glor’ is an ace, Southern-fried rocker packed with harmonicas, horns and hooks.
