The Mission statement
‘The Mission Statement’, while firmly rooted in his off-kilter breakbeat and electro, takes in techno, house and just a hint of euro-disco, all adding up to a thouroughly enjoyable, tongue-in-cheek journey.
Sometime Cabbage Boy, Buckfunk 3000-er and full-time Noodler Si Begg drops his first “concept” album. And apart from the amusing futurist/capatalistbusiness conference/airport theme, the common thread throughout this enjoyable excursion can be summed up in one word: Kraftwerk. That’s not too say that Begg simply plods out sub-standard machine funk because he has nothing better to do: far from it. ‘The Mission Statement’, while firmly rooted in his off-kilter breakbeat and electro, takes in techno, house and just a hint of euro-disco, all adding up to a thouroughly enjoyable, tongue-in-cheek journey. Oh, and ‘We Are Not A Rock Band’ is the manifesto Kraftwerk forgot to write.
