The Man Whom for John Martyn tribute gig
The celebration of the folk legend takes shape.
Glen Hansard, Ultan Conlon and Ian Doyle, a.k.a. The Man Whom are the first acts to be confirmed for the John Martyn tribute gig that’s taking place on September 10 – the night before the great man’s birthday – in Carroll’s Beergarden, Thomastown, County Kilkenny.
Joined by the Scottish folk legend’s own band, they’ll be raising money for the John Martyn Foundation, which offers recording, rehearsing and promotional facilities for young artists.
Tickets priced €15 go on sale on Friday August 19 from Carroll’s and Rollercoaster Music in Kilkenny.

Martyn, who also gets the tribute treatment in our next issue, lived in Thomastown for 12 years until his untimely death in 2009.
