The Kooks - Down
Yes readers, not only are noodleheaded, noughties indie kids The Kooks still (unfathomably) an active band, they’re making records too. Down’ is from their TBA fourth album and it’s very much musical Marmite from start to finish. Vocal yelps, yodelling, hand-claps and cowbells all feature. It’s a mix of Kid Rock’s ‘Bawitdaba’ and Maroon 5’s ‘Moves Like Jagger’, if you can imagine such a thing. In 10 years time the band will no doubt refer to ‘Down’ as their “shit James Brown phase”.
