"The New York Times even has an anxiety column now!" the frontman tells Hot Press.
This fortnight in Hot Press, Craig Finn of literate US rockers The Hold Steady talks to our own Colm O'Regan about flirting with burn-out and how their 2014 album Teeth Dreams features some of their hardest-hitting songs yet.
Chiming with the mental health & well being special focus that runs throughout the issue, the songwriter also discusses anxiety, something he says he was "fascinated" with for some time.
"In truth, I still am," he admits. "Everyone is: The New York Times even has an anxiety column now! I was in Oslo to see The Scream, a painting about the anxiety concerning the oncoming industrial age. It was painted around 1900, and he was feeling like that back then? Maybe anxiety is just there; maybe it's a part of us."
