‘Disco Tech’ is really a compilation, but its relevance is greater than most as it provides a snapshot of nearly 30 years worth of leftfield electronic music. Put together by Italo innovator Alexander Robotnick, it makes the connection between 70s and 80s acts like Yello and Tom Tom Club and modern producers like Dopplereffekt and Hacker. Pop gems from the mainstream and the underground come in the form of Visage’s ‘Fade To Grey’ and OMD’s ‘Enola Gay’ and Casco’s ‘Cybernetic Lover’, while the Italian producer ends the journey with his own ‘Les Grands Voyages De L’Amour’, a track that’s as influential as ever.
